"For decades I've walked through many leading secular museums, like the Smithsonian in Washington, and have seen their impressive dinosaur skeletons, but they were used for evolution," Ham told the Associated Press. "Now we have one of that class for our museum."

You'll remember Ham as the creationist who recently lost a debate to Bill Nye the Science Guy. He's now demanding some time on Neil deGrasse Tyson's "Cosmos."

A museum geologist claims that the well-preserved state of the 30-foot-long, bipedal predator shows that it apparently died in a sudden immersion. He hastily concludes that if the dinosaur died quickly by immersion, then this must corroborate the Biblical story of Noah's flood. He admits no other possibilities for a dinosaur's sudden drowning.

"The Creation Museum has asserted the specimen to be evidence of Noah's flood without any actual research," said Dan Phelps, president of the Kentucky Paleontological Society, in an email to the AP.

"Real vertebrate paleontologists study the surrounding sediments and the geological context of their finds," he added. "Of course since the Creation Museum doesn't do scientific research, all (it) really has done is obtain a nice display trophy."

Scientific inquiry is not to be expected from Peroutka, who argues that the earth must be some 6,000 years old, and that "evolutionary thinking is dangerous and anti-American." However, in the spirit of inquiry, there is much to excavate on Peroutka.

For example, in a 2011 video just unearthed by Right Wing Watch, Peroutka states:

"What I'm saying is that the promotion of evolution is an act of disloyalty to America... What I'm saying is there's no way you can promote or believe in evolution and sing `God Bless America' during the 7th inning stretch!"

Further, Frederick Clarkson has uncovered skulduggery in Peroutka's sudden immersion in Republican Party politics. Peroutka is running for an Anne Arundel County Council seat in Maryland, as well as a seat on the county's Republican Central Committee. Clarkson revealed that Peroutka is in cahoots with his preacher, Pastor David Whitney, who ran an unsuccessful campaign in 2006 on the Constitution Party ticket against Maryland's Democratic House Speaker Michael Busch. (Whitney also recently changed his party registration to Democrat to run for Anne Arundel County Council in the same district as Peroutka; and to run for a seat on the county's Democratic Central Committee.)

The sudden conversions of Peroutka and Whitney have  invited the skepticism of Party regulars who view them as interlopers. In the political community, such people are referred to as RINOs and DINOs -- Republicans in name only and Democrats in name only.

Clarkson and I have previously reported that Peroutka and Whitney are leaders of the League of the South, a Neo-Confederate group which the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as a hate group. Whitney serves as the chaplain of the Maryland chapter of the League. As the lead instructor of Peroutka's Institute on the Constitution, he teaches "the God-given right to secede."

Peroutka has spoken at League of the South conventions for years, was elected to its board of directors in 2013, and on at least one such occasion sported a polo with a Confederate battle flag.

I've also reported on Maryland's 'Operation DINO' -- a cynical attempt by Republican Del. Don Dwyer, the former Executive Director of Peroutka's Institute on the Constitution, where Whitney serves as lead instructor -- to get candidates to run as Democrats in name only, and to convince conservative voters to reregister as Democrats to edge out progressive candidates.

Indeed, the same Elizabeth Streb Peroutka Foundation records that surfaced the story of the donated dinosaur, carefully restored over a decade, reveal that the foundation simultaneously donated $1,000 a year for the restoration of Confederate grave markers. The annual grants went to the Col. Harry W. Gilmore camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in Baltimore.

Each year, on the first Saturday in June closest to Jefferson Davis' birthday, a color guard of Confederate reenactors cleans the graves, replaces weathered grave markers, and plants miniature Confederate battle flags by the graves at the feet of Col. Gilmore's monument in Baltimore's Loudon Cemetery, in the section known as Confederate Hill, where 600 Confederate soldiers are buried. See for yourself.

Maryland voters will soon have the chance to vote against these Neo-Confederates -- DINO Whitney and RINO Peroutka. Primary day is June 24th.
