Richard Land and Rick Scarborough Help Host Restore America Revival

Sponsored by Fairvew Baptist Church of Lufkin, the civic center of the east Texas town will hold a three day rally for American Revival.  The town is often a host for Scarborough rallies featuring Tom Delay, David Barton and other who's who of the far right in American politics.  This time a local church claims responsibility for the weekend.
The Restore America Revival meeting takes place Nov. 1 through 3, 2013.  It is one of many around the nation with similar  format, speakers, and intent.  It will push to make an impact on 2014 elections.  Rick Scarborough's organization claims to have made an impact on around 15 state elections in the state. The list of speakers  is indicative of what will take place.  It will be more of the same conspiracy theories about Federal Government mixed with warning about government's disdain for churches and the Christian faith.
Richard Land, ex- spokesman  for Southern Baptists, was brought into office by a board filled with racists and anti-government types.  He  lost his job in the SBC over race baiting.  His harsh, untimely, comments about Trayvon Martin along with some plagiarism cost him his official seat in the media to represent Southern Baptist views.  Before his Exodus, he was on board with an attempt to get Southern Baptist families to exit public schools.
Land was once offered a place on the campaign committee to work with the Bush family.  His partisan views spilled over into his position on the ethics commission of the Convention.  He had publicly stated that the election of George W. Bush was God's will.  Before his proclamation about divine providence and  Bush, he was public about the need to impeach Bill Clinton.  He once stated he wanted to make Bill Clinton the last causality of the Viet Nam War.  He was silent about Bush's connection to the Reserves during Nam, but openly called Clinton a coward for not signing up for the event.
Scarborough, who claimed Terry Schiro and Tom DeLay were crucified like Jesus, is now advising pastors to endorse candidates from the pulpit.  One of Rick's books contains work by Alan Sears.  Sears is the head of the Alliance Defense Fund which in short encourages pastors to defy federal tax laws and use the church to elect candidates.
Regional representative Louie Gohmert is no stranger to these events.  In 2011 he told the audience in Lufkin that Tom DeLay was charged with crimes merely as a political play.  Louie has made the news recently according to Huffington Post.  Gohmert falsely claimed Walter Reed hospital considers handing a dying patient a Bible is a hostile act.    Frontpagemagazine.com says that Louie is warning the nation that the Obama administration is seeking to promote Islam and persecute Jews and Christians.  Wikipedia says Louie thinks the FBI is more interested in going after Billy Graham than Islamic terrorists.  The Republican, like his neighboring GOP Congressman, wants teachers to be armed.  Louie became famous in the nation from a statement he made on Fox News.  He claimed he had solid evidence that Muslim women were coming to America to give birth to babies to raise them to be suicide bombers.
Another interesting figure is Dan Cummins, an East Texas pastor who is active in these ranks.  Dan set up a national prayer rally in D.C. just a few months ago.  Rob Boston did research on Dan for talk2action.  Among the pearls of wisdom Boston found was the fear of socialism Dan held in his books.  Dan believed King Saul of the Bible as well as President Wilson were socialists.  He also noted that pastors who speak up on political issues can be jailed.
With this package available to the Lufkin area, you can thus expect several items to come out of the gathering.  Islamophobia  will be at a high pitch.  The Obama administration will be paraded as the worst Presidency the nation ever had to endure.  (Land has stated such.)  Pastors will be encouraged to stand up and  be enlisted in a crusade to elect politicians.
Just exactly how this type of hysteria will aid in restoring America to revival is subject to debate.  Creating an environment of  unfounded fear, suspicion and hostility to federal officials and government agencies does not appear to me to be a Christian virtue.  Ironically Lufkin is a big backer of its public school football team.  The home games are all sold out and player jerseys are a hot item in the city.  There is a highly praised junior college in town as well as Federal government offices.  Area Blacks helped keep Charlie Wilson, the famous hero of Charlie's Secret War, in office.   It will be amazing to see if citizens support such an event designed to undermine their government.

First time around here the revival/type agenda is hosting a meeting that lasts for 3 days.
