Graham's 95th Birthday, with Palin and Ricky Skaggs, Symbolic of Trajectory of Evangelicalism
The event was TheCall Nashville, led by Lou Engle and held in the Titan Stadium on 7/07/07, the significance of which is explained on TheCall's website. Other apostles and prophets leading the event included Rick Joyner, Dutch Sheets, Jay Swallow, Harry Jackson, and Negiel Bigpond. Sen. Sam Brownback (now governor of Kansas) headlined an "identificational repentance and reconciliation" ceremony in which he stated his participation was as a U.S. Senator. These ceremonies are not quite as altruistic or social justice-oriented as they appear; they are part of the NAR's spiritual warfare activities to "take territory" by expelling what they describe as demonic spirits and generational curses blocking people of certain ethnic groups or religions from being proselytized. But it was after nightfall when the most dramatic part of the 12-hour event took place. Three hundred men, chosen as "Gideon's Army," marched into the stadium to the sound of drumbeats. Once in the stadium, they were led by Ricky Skaggs in simultaneously blasting their shofars, or rams' horns, that have been used for centuries in the ceremonies of the Jewish High Holy Days. Persevere to around three to four minutes into the video, as the marchers approach the stage and you can see Ricky Skaggs (and Lou Engle rocking back and forth to one side). Needless to say, this is not Billy Graham's evangelicalism, but it appears to be the evangelicalism of the future.
See the following video for the repentance ceremony led by Apostle Dutch Sheets and Sam Brownback.
