"Our economy has become what it has to a large degree in spite of the government, not because of it.  At times the government has helped, and at times it has hurt, but in balance, it has probably done more damage than good when it has intervened."  "With sound management, our U.S. government could be 20% of its present size while accomplishing much more than it does now."  I See a New America, Rick Joyner, pgs. 61, 99.
Rick Joyner is the leader of a Christian ministry and activist group known as the Oak Initiative.  On the board of directors of the Initiative is Louis Sheldon head of the Traditional Values Coalition.  Dr. Lance Wallnau, who is head of the Seven Mountain Template movement, is a board member also.  Joyner is an internationally known holiness preacher who once claimed he stopped the Asian Flu in America by a rebuke.  Joyner's book, I See a New America, is the source for  this article.
Joyner has a specific view regarding his government.  He wants less of it and his typical Religious Right laissez-faire attitude towards the economy flows through every chapter of the book.  He states that we have drifted away from a government of the people. He states that it is not yet too late to turn the country back to its roots.  He reminds his readers that just as a small group of Muslims can make a huge impact on the nation, so can the radical left economists.  He says the greatest need in our nation is for new leadership.  The current administration is faulted for just about all the evils in government.
Rick's view on American history is interesting.  He places a huge emphasis on economy and believes this is the force that makes our nation truly American.  It is the "main glue for all the other social factors."  Constitutional experts have written that no economic systems are mentioned in our Constitution.  Apparently, Rick sees otherwise.  The author believes there have been four powers that waged war in history.  Military, religion, politics and economic powers are the driving forces of history.  He believes we are in war now and modern warfare is waged by economic power.

Predictably, the Federal Reserve is a conspirator in the demise of the nation.  This organization is often cited by these circles as a source of economic evils as well as demonic.
Joyner claims that American democracy comes from Protestant Reformation leader John Calvin.  He notes the Pilgrims in early America were Calvinists.  He did not remind us that early founders in America were also Communists, having all things in common, as they took the Book of Acts in the Bible to promote.
Unlike some fellow travelers, Rick does allow for some government control.  He just wants to do away with most all of it.  He blames the recent economic downfall on government controls, not a deregulated banking industry.  He says the Communist countries are striving to become more capitalistic and we are in turn seeking to become more like the Communists.  He says our move toward Communism happened in the 2008 elections. He sees hope since the 2010 electoral mandate sent a message we are not going to take this drastic move to the left.  The current administration, according to Joyner, "...tried to jerk America toward socialism."
Making the rich pay more taxes helps destroy capitalism, according to the book.  He asks how you would like to play a game where the referee comes and takes away your winnings each time you are victorious?  He defends CEO pay scales and says the pressure they endure is not worth the wages they receive.  These upper income 1% are the true heroes who make less than professional athletes.  He commends these CEOs to being knighted in Britain.  They are Rick's true champions of the American way of life.
Joyner has a theory on how to balance the budget. He writes that if we took the money we spend on regulation and did away with it, we could balance the Federal Budget.   Cutting away 80% of the government is the stated goal of the book.  This fat would greatly increase our chances of survival.
The book states that George Soros, the money behind the Democratic Party, has the agenda that is the "orderly destruction of the U.S. dollar...."   The American education system has been infiltrated by Marxism which is another source of the economic problems in the culture.  He writes that all American public school children hear about America is the bad things.  They can graduate from high school and never hear one positive thing about America, he writes.
The preacher has a quick sure fire cure for what ails American health care.   All we have to do is fix tort reform and our problems will go away.  Rick is saying the entire health care crisis is caused by lawyers who are quick to sue doctors.
The writer's disdain for the American government is evident by his theory that around 10% of the funds actually get to the stated crisis and 90% of the tax dollars are wasted on red tape. Truth is this 10% that goes for welfare just creates another form of slavery in America.   Social Security is just a Ponzi scheme that defrauds Americans out of their hard earned money.  To help ease the burden on Social Security the government is rumored to have set up end-of-life counseling to help thin the ranks of the elderly,
The cover of the book shows U.S. Marines planting the flag on the Pacific island during World War II.  I found it interesting that during the planting of this flag the U.S. economy was not like the one the Oak Initiative envisions for the country.  On the back cover Rick writes, "America is too young to die."  The economic systems Rick yearns for died long before Rick was born.

Rick is yet another minister who claims to be an expert on economic issues.  There is no shortage of print for these folks and TBN helps give them a national platform.

The worst sports analogy I've ever heard. Taxing the rich is more akin to capping player salaries, as an individual business owner might make the best product, but still lose market share, likewise a really useful receiver might not get payed as much as the losing teams receiver.

My own analogy is that an all star MLB gets on base only 4% more than an average hitter who makes most of the time 20 times less than the all star.  Our culture tends to view salaries now with this evaluation.  Joyner's salary would be indicitive I would quess.
