Pastor Blames Constitution for America's Problems
Weiland's Mission to Israel Ministries recently sent out an article on the issue of the U.S. Constitution. The work can be found at www.misiontoisrael.org. He says that Colonial America was doing well, basing its laws on the Bible. It doomed its future when it adopted the Constitution. Weiland writes that the Constitution is not compatible with Christianity. He finds its words hostile to Scripture. He wrote, "We will never become a nation that pleases Yahweh by promoting the Constitution." He sees the document as taking away the rights of citizens and not protecting them. He noted that our rights have been "whittled away" since this statement was made the law of the land. Ted makes the point that many secular writers have noted. Jefferson did have some Christian- sounding statements but "no one would argue he was a Christian." The writer takes a refreshing view toward Jefferson in contrast to many of his Dominion friends. Ted notes several portions of the American legacy that he says supplant God's law. He notes the preamble does not place Biblical law as the law of the land. Article 2 sets up the Executive branch of government. Evidently Ted wants a system like in Iran where religious leaders make executive decisions. Article 6 states there will be no religious tests required for public office. Ted sees this as a "repudiation of Christianity." As one might predict, he does not like the First Amendment. Weiland knows this means religious toleration. Ted is in favor of severe punishment for those who do not practice his official version of the Christian faith. Of particular interest is the pastor's disgust at the adoption of Amendment 8. This is the protection of citizens from cruel and unusual punishment. The preacher has written books regarding this issue and what is true Biblical justice. The late Dr. T.B. Maston, a famous Christian ethicist, wrote that surely no one in modern times would advocate the death penalties proposed by the Old Testament for today. Ted and his friends do! In Ted's book on the subject he lists the offenses that demand being stoned. That is idolatry, blasphemy, transgressing the Sabbath and extreme cases of child rebellion. Also included in the capital offenses are murder, kidnapping, perjury, adultery, bestiality, miscegenation, incest, homosexuality, deceit in marriage and rape. He saves two other offenses for burning at the stake. Those are marriage to both a mother and her daughter and whoredom by a relative of a priest. He wrote that there is another offense, he calls false prophesying, that does not carry a specific mandated form of execution.1 (I am sure Ted would be glad to come up with an avenue of punishment for this one if asked.) The pastor noted in his book that it was mandatory that everyone in the community must attend the execution.2 Ted is by no means the average run- of -the- mill- type pastor. He does have a church, following and publishes books. He did not say he is Christian Identity, but appears to fit the profile. He is an anti-Semite claiming the Jews of today are not really Jews, but impostors. He adheres to the British -Israel belief that Anglo Saxons are really the lost tribes of Israel. He notes that modern Christians have more Jewish blood in their veins than their Jewish neighbors. In his doctrine, the covenant is passed on by genetic seed. Modern Jews are impostors and are from a forgotten tribe known as Khazars.3
