David Jeremiah's Christian Voter Advice
Rumor has it that 95 year old Graham was manipulated by son Franklin into endorsing the GOP candidate. Billy had often made public his regret that he allowed himself to be drawn into endorsing Richard Nixon, the President who was impeached during the seventies. JFK once tricked Graham into playing golf with him and staging a photo opt on the 18th hole. Graham learned how politicians can seek to manipulate Christian public figures. Jeremiah, without much of any use of a Biblical text, explained in his sermon the reason for Christians to get behind Mitt Romney. The usual arguments were made about social issues. Jeremiah implied that Obama lacked Christian principles that raised doubts about his Christian commitment being genuine. Romney, who is not claiming to be a Christian, seemed to have more of the "fear of the Lord" in him as David put it. The argument brought up the prospect of Christians needing to embrace two different religions in this election. Mormons, who agreed with Jeremiah on the political issues deserved the backing of true Christians according to the California pastor. He stopped short of calling Mormons a cult. He left open the idea that just probably this bishop in the Mormon church could have-by chance even might be a Christian. He gave no evidence of any endnote to this claim. The other religion for Christians to back was the Jewish faith. Jeremiah said that one should vote for politician's who backed Israel. This was a true Christian voter issue. It was a bit peculiar to hear a well known evangelical Christian leader and writer embracing two different religions. David Jeremiah will join George W. Bush and Fundamentalist Bellevue Baptist church for an April 15-18 rally. Bellevue is the church whose member helped in organizing evangelicals to get behind Ronald Reagan. Jeremiah `s work will undoubtedly extend well beyond the election. He carries a great deal of influence with him and is well known as a man who comes close if not excedes the influence of Rick Warren.
