This Week Another Mayor's Prayer Breakfast Will Host an Anti-Muslim, Anti-Obama Conspiracy Theorist
Boykin declares that evangelical Christians are being increasingly persecuted as "we are unquestionably getting closer to the end times" and is a regular at end times prophecy conferences. He tells audiences that he was under attack for his faith while serving in the military and as the deputy under secretary of defense, including being betrayed by George W. Bush when he was investigated by the Pentagon in 2004. Boykin had previously described Bush as not being elected by a majority of voters, but "anointed by God." Boykin has promoted conspiracy theories claiming that George Soros and the Council on Foreign Relations are part of a "cabal" that intentionally collapsed the American economy in an attempt to form a global government. Boykin is in other Oak Initiative videos claiming that the Obama administration targeted Republican-owned car dealerships for closing, long after this conspiracy theory was debunked by the conservative Heritage Foundation and Fox News. Boykin claims that Islam is not a religion and therefore should not be protected under the First Amendment. He is opposed to interfaith dialogue, based on his claim that Islam is not an Abrahamic faith. People for the American Way has written to the mayor and city council of Ocean City, providing samples of Boykin's rhetoric and calling for a more inclusive speaker.
