I'd Rather Hear about Gingrich & Garlow's Views on Dominionism than Marriage

Just when Iowa evangelical Republicans are not only divided among several GOP candidates but many are actively skeptical of Newt Gingrich's character; just when Gingrich's once pack leading poll numbers appear to have peaked and are now declining in Iowa; just when a CNN poll has him tied with Romney nationally; and just when Ron Paul's numbers are rising even leading in Iowa -- along comes San Diego pastor and leading anti-gay activist Rev. Jim Garlow with a mass email to Iowa evangelicals supporting Gingrich, that is making news.

Since Garlow has been deeply involved with Gingrich for years as the chairman of his Renew American Leadership organization (although he attended Gov. Rick Perry's famous pre-presidential announcement prayer rally) it is a little odd that the 9,000 word email endorsing Gingrich's sincerity about marriage is news at all, except perhaps as an indicator of political desperation.

Now that Garlow is playing such a singular role in trying to legitimize Gingrich's current views on the sanctity of marriage, perhaps reporters (at least those who have recovered from the  pooh poohery about dominionism of last fall) will ask Garlow about his embrace of the "seven mountains" theology of dominion promoted by the New Apostolic Reformation. (Hat Tip, Right Wing Watch.)

I, for one, would be more interested in knowing what Garlow thinks about Gingrich and theocratic dominionism than his views about marriage (about which we have heard plenty).

I would like to hear ALL of the Republican candidates give straight answers to some tough questions about separation of church and state and related issues.  That's about as likely as seeing a pig fly, so maybe someone could publish a valid "Voter's guide" (unlike the propaganda version put out by the dominionists) showing where the candidates stand on a few key issues.  I would suggest putting citations for each point leading to their own words (that people can look up themselves).

Then if money could be found to get them published, have it put in the newspapers and sent to all of the mainstream churches (and any other group who would be affected by their goals).

Ignorance about what they stand for is still a major problem.  I've been encountering people who are becoming more hostile to Christians and Christianity, but it's because they don't know that it's only a portion of Christianity that is the problem.  That ignorance extends (in many cases) to the candidates and where they come from.

The sad thing about the hostility is that the dominionists see it as "Persecution!", and it causes people like myself to be lumped in with them (and I've caught some of the anger too).  The reality is that it's a reaction to dominionist attempts to dictate the lives of others and the anger is legitimate (although sometimes misdirected).

on Gingrich's growing support from The Response crowd: Garlow, AFA's Wildmon, Barton and Rodriguez in the One Nation Under God video with Gingrich. I am sure there are more than this if I did some more digging. If he is able to tap into the activist base represented by AFA and NAR circles it would help make up for the lack of traditional Republican organizational structures behind him.
