Preaching against Muslims near 9/11 site
http://www.theledger.com/article/20100906/APA/1009060517?tc=ar Let's see... we have a group going to burn Korans here in Florida, and we have this (unprintable) preaching against Muslims near the 9/11 site. We have all the rhetoric against Muslims (and against Atheists and against Immigrants and against Liberals and against...)- especially against Muslims lately. IMO, this is all to stir up hatred for the United States- maybe a deliberate attempt to cause a religious war between the US and some of the Muslim countries. I would agree that sometimes it seems that the "Christians" (and most Americans to boot) are all like that, but the reality is that a lot of us are not. I suspect the Dominionists/Religious Right WANT a religious war, because that means that more people will flock to their banner in anger- not realizing that they're being manipulated. I wish we could get the message to the Muslim world that not everyone believes like those few jerks do. Now, I've talked with people who have had personal Bibles (for personal devotional use) destroyed in Muslim countries- and in American eyes that is no more acceptable than the burning of Korans in this country. The problem is the hate- not the respective religions. We need to work on focusing on accepting each other and looking for the things we have in common. That means not trying to proselytize each other as well, and struggling TOGETHER against people who advance the cause of hate. We also need to struggle against the causes of the misery we all share- the exploitation and manipulation of people by the elites, whether through politics or directly (for any foreign readers, yes, there ARE a lot of poor in this country- even by non-American standards). Both religions in this situation teach that the poor need justice and fair treatment (and help)... and allowing a few to exploit others is contrary to both of our faiths. That means that one government should not try to dominate another for the "interests" of the wealthy in the respective government. This world is too small for us to NOT work together for the common good!!!
