Texas again
I just saw something really frightening. I know that conservatives have targeted public education for a long time. Yet, I had always felt that higher education, even state related schools, were relatively immune. Then, I saw this on, of all places, the website of the Oklahoma Mainstream Baptists. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/education/stories/
071010dnmettransparency.1a9913f.html Sometimes, I remember Robert Heinlein's "If This Goes On" story . . . and think it may be coming. It is recommended reading. (Heinlein, seemed to me to often be way far right of center, still treasured real freedom despite that fact. I loved his fiction.) It is worth noting that as I looked at the Oklahoma Mainstream Baptist site, they appear to be trying to cling to the original emphasis of the Baptists on religious tolerance and freedom. They are probably worth the effort to learn more about them.
