It's really hard to tell whether Youtube poster BillyBobNeck is on the level or not - could his videos be satire ? His 102 videos to date have titles like "murderous gay nazi cannibals," "homobama isn't president," and "Jesus didn't play sports." My favorite so far is BillyBobNeck's video in which he asks,

"What letter does socialism start with ? - "S" What letter does Satan start with ? - "S" What letter does sodomy start with ? - "S" What letter does soccer start with ? - "S" I'm going to give you a great big guess on this ? - It's "S"

Do you think this is some kind of coincidence or something ? Do you really honestly think that because it ain't. It ain't at all. Soccer is against God."

BillyBobNeck goes on to reason that God gave human beings two arms, two legs, and two hands. So, because Soccer players aren't allowed to use their hands it goes against God's plan. I suspect that he's quite serious, but judge for yourself.

If this man is serious, consider the radical discontinuity between your likely underlying precepts, as someone reading this website, and BillyBobNeck's. You may share his precepts but it's likely you, as a reader do not. But many Americans do.

If you think the video, above isn't satire consider the implications - how many millions of Americans now exist in such as parallel reality, in which Biblical interpretation and John Birch Society-style conspiracy theory become the primary lenses for the interpretation of reality ?

Possibly more than you think.

It's sad, however, that parody is so close to reality.

It reminds me in a way of the argument made by the preacher of the Pentecostal church I attended years ago- that Santa Claus is the Devil.  His argument- Santa Claus is another way of saying "Saint Nick" which comes from "Old Nick", the Devil.  Then he went on to preach against Christmas and Santa Claus.

He was serious.  We heard other anti-Christmas rants from him (but nothing on the origins of Christmas- just railing against Santa Claus, and all the focus on family/fun instead of church).

Never mind that Saint Nicholas was a real person (tomb was found by archaeologists).

I also got treated about nine months ago to a rant against Christmas Trees- the guy argued they were idols (same sort of "reasoning").  He also had a sign in his yard- "Put Christ back in Christmas".

One thing that concerns me, however- when people start dismissing Dominionist heresies because they think the preachers are using satire.  It's a bad sign when you have trouble telling the difference.
