City asks person attacking atheists to give invocation
The idiots running the city (and this county and the school board) are all going to get themselves into a pickle- loosing expensive lawsuits (which the poor and middle class will be forced to pay for) unless they stop violating the constitution. They claim to uphold and value the constitution of the United States, but as we know, dominionists are ready to eliminate or severely change the constitution in order to bring about theocracy. This area is so heavily dominionist that the "liberal" Episcopal church in town would be considered uber-conservative anywhere else, and the people involved sound like they belong to dominionist or steeplejacked churches! This whole brouhaha is starting to get attention outside of the local area. Not only has it been featured in the local paper, but it's making headlines on the local 24 hours news station and possibly elsewhere. The news article also doesn't mention that people are starting to come forward and letting others know that they were forced to participate in the prayers, even though they were atheists. Some saner people are calling for a moment of silence- the very thing that the atheists (and other non-Christians) have proposed. These so-called "Christians" are belittling and denigrating the call for a moment of silence and insisting on sectarian prayers. It seems obvious to me that they're trying to force their religion on others. A person I know refers to it as a form of spiritual rape. I agree.
I just wish that we could get through to these "Christians" just how much damage they're doing to the Body of Christ, and just how much they're turning people off to "Christianity".
