School of Christian Activism Now in Session
As foretold in the blogs of old, Scott Lively has come to Springfield, MA and has joined the New Generation Christian Center as pastor and leader of The School of Christian Activism. [Interestingly, his arrival has only been announced on the church's Russian page, not on the English page.] Because Lively and church leader Alexey Ledyaev are virulently anti-gay, one wonders what will be on the syllabus. Anyone interested in enrolling? It is open to the public. Click here to see a video clip of Lively pitching the anti-gay to concerned Latvians. Press release below the fold. |
For Immediate Release:

SPRINGFIELD - New Generation Christian Center, a church which promotes Bible-based marriage and family life as the foundation of a healthy society, will launch a School of Christian Activism on Feb. 24 to teach what the Bible has to say about the duty of Christians to be socially and politically active.
The School of Christian Activism will begin with a series of lectures by Dr. Scott Lively on the theme of "Redemption Theology," which is the title of his current book-in-progress. Redemption Theology expounds a systematic Biblical doctrine of Christian social activism, based on the principles of Biblical law in both the Old and New Testaments.
Dr. Lively is a missionary pastor who has taught family-life and activist seminars around the world, and has recently returned to the U.S. from an eight-month tour of the former Soviet Union. He is also an attorney with expertise in family law, constitutional law and international human rights.
"There's a crazy idea in the church today," stated Dr. Lively, "that the Bible forbids Christians from competing for influence in politics, business, media and the rest of the 'real world' outside the walls of the church. However, the actual teaching of the Bible is very liberating to those who want to solve social problems through activism. I've spent many years studying this as a lawyer and a pastor and I want to share what I've learned with those who want to make things better in the world around us."
The School of Christian Activism will meet weekly on Sunday evenings at 6:30PM and is open to the public. While the program will contain some elements of a church service, such as opening with live contemporary Christian music, the program is completely non-denominational and open to the public.
