Joan,
This list has been on Christian radio for a while.  The fact that God is in every state's preamble is just one of those "amazing true facts" that boring people bring up at boring parties.

The newest of these preambles is 50 years old.  What else would you expect?

The idea that our founders wanted a Christian Nation already is fully accepted by the Christianists, and fully rejected by everybody else.  I honestly do not believe that this list ever will change anybody's mind.

I believe the other issues in your other posts are a lot more pressing.  I enjoy reading what you write, and thinking about it, and responding.

for a lot of people...making it in the gossip column for others...football, baseball or beauty queen...

What do you wish? The Constitution allows people their freedom to choose, and by the laws instituted, some of which are enforced, prescribe not stepping on each others toes.

Why the dems seem to be unable to lay this out for the simple-minded oafs that are part of any given mass of humanity remains to be seen.

What percentage of the population gets a good education? What does 'culture' mean in this country: Elvis? the Super Bowl?

Did you know they do not make recordings of symphony orchestras in this country anymore?
Fact!!!!

So if 'oaf' seems harsh, think.

The general topic of the site is the religious right and what to do about it.

I can't figure out what this comment has to do with the topic, let alone the diary. Sneering rants about the intelligence and interests of the general population are off topic. Please keep comments on topic.

Off topic comments and diaries may be deleted without notice.

Answer is stated in each state's Bill of Right: Freedom of and from religion, and in most the rejection of any religious test. The purpose of invoking a Creator is just to say government doesn't grant rights, they're unalienable.
