Where I come from

Hello,
I thought someone might find my story interesting.
----Mark Tribble
I grew up in the Nazarene Church. God led me out of that, (Rev. 18:4) and into a very wonderful group of brethren. Bible Students believe so differently that I feel compelled to list these differences. I won't list a bunch of scriptures. I can provide all that to anyone interested.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We are non-trinitarian.

Hell is the death state (no conscious eternal torment).

Jesus returned as a Spirit, invisibly, in the latter part of
1874. Parousia means presence, and not coming (see Rotherham).

The purpose of the church  is to raise and bless, through and with Jesus, the resurrected world of mankind.

Christianity was never meant to be a world religion, but only to take out a little flock.

The Papal system is the anti-Christ; the Catholic Church is Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the earth. The Protestant churches are the daughter systems.

The physical body of the believer MUST die before the Spirit nature can be attained; no blending of natures; as a consequence, Jesus' literal earthly body was not resurrected --  his New Creature was.

The Great Company is a spirit class, but on a lower level than the church. There are probably many millions in it.

Perhaps as much as 90% of Bible Students in Germany died in the Nazi death camps.

These following remarks are not believed by all others in the Bible Student fellowship; these are my understandings.
-------------------
Eventually, the Anglican/Episcopal church will come into full fellowship  with the Lutheran church, (allowing apostolic succession to flow into the until now separated protestants) which will give breath to the image of the beast, a protestant conglomeration of mega churches, evangelicals, fundamentalists, etc. which will have already been formed.

The Catholic Church will look favorably upon these events from Rome, and Europe will once again, for a short time, be under the velvet glove of the Pope.  America, Canada and perhaps others will be under control of the protestant image of the beast.
These false church/state systems eventually meet their doom in the (symbolic) lake of fire. The Dragon (civil power) hangs around until the end of the millenium, which started in 1874.

About the time the churches and governments are going down, Israel is being pressured, then attacked. Israel scores a victory that only God could have pulled off, and it gets everyones' attention. The Worthies of Israel (Abraham, Moses, etc.)who lived in ancient times come back on the scene, swiftly taking charge.

The resurrection of the earthly dead begins there, and blessings flow out to the rest of the world.

There are my heresies. We stand outside of the great mass of christians, watching as they fulfill prophecy. We understand their concerns, but do not share their methods.

Mark,

Generally, this sort of diary - a simple declaration of theological belief - would clearly be outside the topic of this site - and the denigration of any faith is prohibited : this site is not a forum for debating the merits of various faiths or for theological discussion in general except insofar as that relates to the task of countering the Christian right.

Regardless, I'm inclined to let your diary here stand as an example of what sort of diary not to post - unless Frederick Clarkson or others have strong opinions on the matter.

Now, your diary does do some useful work, yes :

It forcefully delivers the point that Christianity is a fantastically heterogenous religion, and long has been. Historians of religion in America have written that even prior to the American Revolution the colonies had developed what was possibly the widest expression of diversity in Christian religious faith in the world at that time. Those opposed to the theocratic, religious supremacist goals of many on the American Christian right would do well to take note : certainly among Evangelicals, and even among those holding end-time eschatologies, there exist profound differences in matters of faith, and these distinctions can be highly significant both in theological but also in political terms.

However, your diary runs counter to the spirit of the site in several ways also:

Inherent to your theological beliefs is a depiction of religions with which you do not agree as "false" . This site does not - and cannot - endorse any one faith, or atheism and agnostic beliefs, over another. Further, such condemnations - as your condemnation of the Catholic Church - almost inevitably result in the sort of irresolvable theological debates that serve no purpose on this site.

You might, of course, object that your diary contains a simple creedal statement, of your faith, and a description of the eschatological beliefs of those in the Bible Student fellowship. Yes, that's true - but inherent to your faith is a condemnation of other faiths, as invalid or false. Such positions are strongly antagonistic to the inclusionary spirit of this forum.

In general, I would urge you to read the site guidelines ( see the link at the upper right on Talk To Action web pages ) and consider how your diary fails to serve the purpose of this site.

Talk To Action is not opposed to creedal statements per se, but were we to allow site members to post theological declarations how would we reconcile those with the inclusionary nature of the site given that many creedal statements include condemnations of societal groups, races, certain sexual orientations, and other faiths ?

Bruce,
Thanks for your comment. You're right, I should have looked at the guidelines. I'm blaming my oversight on a sinus infection which I had at the time. I'll be more than willing to take it down since it is not in line with the purpose of this forum.

Sincerely,
Mark
