An Iowa GOP leader slams Christian Right!
Obviously, that's not the academic definition of a fascist, but (just as obviously) that's beside the point! I went to college at a Dutch Reformed school near Sioux City. This is SERIOUSLY "red" territory--the northwestern corner of Iowa, abutting South Dakota. (TTA isn't a partisan site, and this isn't a partisan question, but isn't is interesting how in the US "red" has gone from meaning Communist to Republican?) I think this is an interesting development. One might argue that the speaker's "just" a county chair, but he's county chair in a pretty red area, and an area where there are many, many churches affiliated with Calvinist traditions of mixing religious and civic law and activities.
