Progressive Interfaith Radio Debut
Through interviews with newsmakers and field reports from around the country, State of Belief says it will explore the intersection of religion with politics, culture, media, and activism. Each week, Gaddy will offer critical analysis and seek to provide listeners with an appreciation of religious liberty. Gaddy said he believes that religion and radical freedom are allied, and that the Religious Right is wrong for America and bad for religion. "I believe that religion should -- and can -- serve as a positive and healing force in this nation--the most religiously diverse nation in the world. But that grand possibility will be tossed on the trash heap of history unless we stop manipulation of religion for partisan political purposes and the manipulation of politics for sectarian gains," said Gaddy. This Sunday's show features journalist Walter Cronkite, as well as Diana Eck of the Pluralism Project, who believes that post 9-11, Americans "have acquiesced the very values we hold dear." Every show features activists in religion and politics. To see where Air America is broadcast, go to Air America station list. (New York Metropolitan area,1190 WLIB AM.
