Portrayal of Loughner
Today in the paper they are now trying to blame drug abuse for his actions and words ( http://www.theledger.com/article/20110118/ZNYT02/101183015/1333/n
ews33?p=3&tc=pg ). Not once have I seen (outside of T2A and a couple of other blogs/sites) any mention of the Sovereign Citizen movement and how what he posted parroted some of the writings you find connected to that movement. I don't think that most of the public has any idea whatsoever of what we know and have documented, and so I would bet that the person on the street thinks liberals are trying to just gain political advantages through hyperbole, rather than stating facts about the situation and the way the violence was directed. It has been interesting to see how this has played out in the media, and how they are clearly trying to shape public opinion and shield the extreme right from exposure and censure. I think this is another example of how the media (for the most part) are actually very conservative, and disproves the constantly prattled claim of "liberal bias in the media". However, I must say that this article did raise this question in my mind: Since what he wrote was so crazy and disjointed, and it parrots the claim of a couple of the leaders in the Sovereign Citizen movement, could those leaders also be abusing the same drug? I might also add that back in the early 80's, I had a couple of people from the Assemblies I used to attend try hard to recruit me into that movement - even as long as a couple of years after I walked. A few of the things I've read here reminded me of the things they said, and many of the claims were almost identical.
