Richard Land Picks Republican Veep Candidate
Land asserted in a CBS News interview earlier this month that he doesn't "endorse candidates," but then went on to do exactly that, and apparently McCain wants to be president bad enough to give in. Why Palin? Because, according to Land, she chose to carry a Down's Syndrome child to term rather than having an abortion:
CBSNews.com: Who's on the list of people mentioned for VP that you think would most excite Southern Baptists and other members of the conservative faith community? I don't have any issue or argument with her personal choice. I know Talk2Action is pro-choice, which I would interpret to mean exactly that, no matter which decision one makes. However, I do not believe that merely exercising that choice one way or another qualifies someone to hold public office. Nor does one's religion qualify someone to hold public office, whether McCain as a supposed Baptist is under Land's "spiritual authority" or not. This was a lesson learned by the British during the English Civil War, Cromwellian Interregnum and Restoration, reaffirmed during American colonial history, and codified in our Constitution, whether David Barton believes it or not. A lesson long forgotten by these theocratic idiots and those willing to kowtow to their demands to gain power, like McCain. Interestingly, CBSNews' own headline today is "Alaska Gov. is McCain's VP Shocker." Shocker???? Hello!!! Anyone who read Land's interview and has half a clue should not be shocked.
