Religious Right Loses in Kansas
Challengers were able to overcome a number of the anti-science incumbents, tipping the balance back to the favor of science and the interests of our children's education. From the Associated Press:
As a result of Tuesday's vote, board members and candidates who believe evolution is well-supported by evidence will have a 6-4 majority. Evolution skeptics had entered the election with a two-person majority. This replication of the Kansas strategy has been attempted in states across the country, including the failed push in Ohio earlier this year. Once again their agenda to impose religious ideology on Americans, including this continued assault on our schools, has been rejected -- the cracks in the facade are increasingly visible.
