(Yes, I am putting my history of dominionist bible versions on hold for right now--this NEEDS to be brought into the open.)

CNN's groundbreaking series "God's Warriors"--in which promoters of Wahhabist Islam, Haredi Judaism, and "Christian" dominionism are revealed--has caused up quite the stir; dominionists in particular are wanting Christine Amanpour's head in part because she pointed out just how much the Freudian slip of "Joel's Army" is showing.

Much has been made of John Hagee's appearance on the program as well as Ron Luce's Joelkorpjugend; far less well publicised--and which SHOULD be as worrying to Americans, in my opinion--was the statement by the third Assemblies man (Joseph B. Fuiten) on the program:

You see, he doesn't think non-dominionists should be considered citizens...or have rights.  At all.

A different gospel: The "old" Scofield Reference Bible

In the following weeklong "series within a series" on the subject of the dominionist parallel economy, we will be focusing on a subject that has gotten surprisingly little attention--the fact that dominionists have their own translations of the Bible along with reference Bibles with explicit notations of dominion theology in the notes.

This has had the effect of dominionists following a different Gospel as opposed to mainstream Christianity--often very different indeed.  Many of us have wondered if dominionists are reading the same Bible--in this weeklong series, I aim to show that in many cases they are not.

Today, we focus on the reference Bible that dominionism is literally built upon--the "old" Scofield Reference Bible.  Things puzzling to the outside world--like John Hagee's claims that Russia and Iran will be homes of the Antichrist (and in fact his Armageddonist version of "rapture theory") and the push to convert Jews to "kosher pentecostals" all originate in this particular translation.

Dominionism's parallel economy: Abuse at "Bible boot camps"

Yesterday, I did a post (which is part of a continuing series on the dominionist "parallel economy") in regards to dominionist "parallel economy" alternatives to conventional mental health services.

A major part of these "alternatives" involve various "behaviour modification" centers which promise to "de-metal", "de-rap", "de-gay", and "de-rebellion" your kids--but, all too often, turn out to be horribly abusive in practice.

A recent example involved an incident where a teenaged girl was dragged behind a van at a "Bible boot camp" run by a neopentecostal church in San Antonio, TX (connected with the "Joel's Army" movement).  Such incidents are, alas, distressingly common--and, disturbingly, politicians with a history of friendliness towards dominionism (including the President of the United States) have practically given such facilities a green light to bring a new definition to the term "Suffer the Children".

In a continuing series on the "parallel economy" of dominionists (which is in part based on a series I am doing on DailyKos now on this subject) I will be touching on various portions of what amount to an entire parallel universe of dominionist economy.

Today, we focus on one of the decidedly more disturbing parts--dominionist "parallel economy" alternatives to mental health services, which are increasingly being promoted in especially neopente communities as alternatives to "secular mental health" services.

Today, we will cover the plethora of "theophostic counselors", other mental health counselors in a legal limbo outside psychiatry or psychology, NARTH-affiliated "reparative therapists", dominionist "Bible boot camps" and "behaviour modification facilities" (which we'll cover more tomorrow in detail), and a veritable zoo of alternatives.  Some of the practices are truly horrifying--faith-based coercion promoted as addiction rehab, kids being involuntarily committed to be "degayed", and "mental health specialists" specialising in performing televangelist-style exorcisms on patients.

Dominionism's parallel economy: Dominionism at the doctor's office

In today's installment of the series on the dominionist "parallel economy" (originally appearing on DailyKos), I will go into detail on dominionist medical associations and dominionist doctor's offices--which are, disturbingly, an increasing problem.

Not only are there dominionist doctors and dominionist healthcare clinics, but entire dominionist medical associations--associations with far more lax standards than the typical mainstream medical association; with dominionist groups pushing hard to get them sanctioned officially as alternative certification boards for licensing, not only is the spectre raised that entire categories of people can be denied medical service, but that certification mills may be a future possibility.

We go through everything from non-dominionist employees being cast out of a dominionist pediatrician's group, to the dominionist "parallel economy" alternative to mainstream pediatricians, to a lesbian couple's unfortunate discovery that their HMO referred them to a dominionist doctor, to implications for not only your safety--but the safety of kids in abusive households.

Today, I begin covering a series here that I've been covering on DailyKos--namely, what may be one of the first attempts to fully plumb the dominionist "parallel economy".

The first installment on DailyKos was in large part a repeat of my post on "Shepherd's Guides" and similar "Christian yellow pages" type directories; here on Talk to Action, we'll begin the series with discussion of the four companies that are most solidly linked with dominionism in the workplace--Amway/Quixtar, Chick-Fil-A, Hobby Lobby, and US Plastics.

As you will see, a surprising amount of money actually gets funneled to dominionist groups by these four companies--and readers of Talk to Action may wish to consider where their money goes when making their shopping decisions.

Dear Mr. Ford,

It happened again.

We should be used to it by now. The Republicans do it all the time. When we supported Ned Lamont in the primaries last year, Joe Lieberman did it, too. Your friend Bill O'Reilly -- Falafel Boy himself -- and his minions took their shot, even going so far as to call us Nazis and Klansmen. And now it's your turn, Mr. Ford.

In your capacity as the chair of the Democratic Leadership Council, you said this morning on Meet the Press that we're a bunch of Jew haters here.

(At this point on the original diary, there is a YouTube clip of the offending remarks.)

My response?
